RALEIGH, N.C. — October 22, 2025 — The Center for Leadership Studies (CLS) has announced the release of the Managing Conflict course, which enables leaders to develop self-awareness and skills that turn potentially destructive conflict into constructive dialogue, enhancing the ability to diagnose and respond effectively to conflict situations.

Workplace conflict is inevitable, but when poorly managed or left unaddressed, it can disrupt operations, derail performance and erode team relationships. Research from Gitnux reveals that conflict costs businesses an estimated $359 billion annually in lost productivity and accounts for over half of all employee turnover.1 The good news is that same data shows that early leader intervention can prevent up to 65% of conflict from escalating.1

In the end, the most efficient businesses aren’t those without conflict, but those that can address it effectively and harness it as a force for innovation, collaboration and growth. Our Managing Conflict course equips leaders to recognize the signs of disruptive conflict, adapt to different conflict tendencies and apply the conflict management style that best fits the situation.

“In today’s fast-paced, high-stakes work environment, effective conflict management skills are essential,” Suzie Bishop, VP of Product Development at The Center for Leadership Studies, says. “The Managing Conflict course goes beyond surface-level de-escalation tactics to equip leaders with practical tools and strategies to manage conflict effectively. By empowering leaders to uncover the root causes of conflict and respond with clarity and intention, the Managing Conflict course enables meaningful, lasting resolution. Leaders come away equipped to turn tension into trust, keeping their teams aligned, engaged and performing at their best—even when they don’t agree.”

Available in in-person instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT) and self-paced training, Managing Conflict is a two-hour course that teaches leaders to make conflict serve their goals—not undermine them.

Through discussion, a self-assessment and peer learning, participants discover their and others’ behavioral tendencies during conflict and how to adapt their approach for the best possible outcome. For more information about the Managing Conflict course, visit https://situational.com.

Cary, NC – February 19, 2025 – The Center for Leadership Studies (CLS), the global home of the Situational Leadership® Model, announced today the release of the Situational Change Leadership™ program, a flexible, multimodal experience that enables leaders to approach each change situationally, create alignment between their team and next-level leadership and drive success and engagement.

All organizations undergo change periodically to stay relevant in fluctuating markets where demand, trends and technology evolve seemingly overnight. From minor process improvements to significant acquisitions and restructurings, change is an essential catalyst to progress. But nearly 70% of change initiatives fail and 57% of employees think organizations do not manage change well.1 The Situational Change Leadership™ course is geared toward improving transformation outcomes by introducing a four-phased, intentional process that enables leaders to positively influence the reactions and implementation of change using Situational Leadership® practices.

“Change is an inevitable part of work and one that we’re experiencing more and more often. It’s our goal to help leaders not only learn to live with change, but also to thrive in it,” said Suzie Bishop, VP of Product Development at CLS. “The Situational Change Leadership™ course teaches leaders to be resilient, positive and confident in their ability to do just that.”

The Situational Change Leadership™ course expands an individual’s leadership skills, focuses on the leader audience and teaches skills to effectively manage a change initiative. This new program encompasses a broader audience and complements any leader’s learning journey, taking their skills to the next level.

Situational Change Leadership™ features consistent learning outcomes across four critical modalities: in-person instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), digital blended and self-paced. This enables organizations to leverage the modalities that are most impactful to their learners and increase the scale and speed of their leadership training to develop more leaders in less time.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the course includes accessibility compliance, impactful paced lessons, multifaceted collaboration, reflection, discussion and application activities, as well as video case studies that reflect today’s modern and dynamic workforce when faced with change.

The Situational Change Leadership™ course is available as both a public and private workshop. For client trainers seeking certification, CLS offers a streamlined, single workshop certification process to deliver the program across all modalities, making it easier to ramp up internal training teams.

When debuted to an external pilot audience, participants praised the applicability and tools included in the program. “This was a great course with so many valuable takeaways! I especially found the phased process very relevant and easy to commit to memory with the self, team and individual categories that I could apply in multiple ways.” Another participant remarked, “The course has definitely increased my awareness of what could be affecting resistance to change and how to use leadership styles to impact that positively. Additionally, evaluating ourselves, our team and informing your leader is something I’ll use over and over again. It grounds you where you are.”

Cary, NC – January 14, 2025 – The Center for Leadership Studies (CLS), the global home of the Situational Leadership® Model, is proud to announce the release of two new courses to our Performance Curriculum, Building Trust and Your Leadership Brand.

These courses are two distinct but complementary additions to CLS’ training portfolio that are in high demand for today’s leaders. Driven by customer need and interest, CLS addresses the foundational leadership skills of developing and maintaining trust and the growing desire among leaders to cultivate an impactful brand that invites others to want to collaborate and partner with them. Both offerings teach the importance of connection and relationships in goal achievement, talent retention and increased motivation.

Trust is vital to a healthy workplace and breeds innovation, productivity and engagement while decreasing attrition and stress. But roughly one in four workers don’t trust their employer and most employers overestimate their workforce’s trust level by almost 40%,1 making the need for leaders to effectively establish and maintain trust in the organization a critical one. Data shows that employees who trust their leaders are more satisfied with their jobs, work harder and stay with the company longer. The Building Trust course explores the benefits of trust, personal power bases and actionable strategies to nurture trust in the workplace, enabling learners to take the first step in creating an environment where trust is a core principle of effective leadership.

The Your Leadership Brand course reminds learners that, whether intentional or not, they have a leadership brand based on their style, behaviors and track record that forms their professional identity. It enables them to take an active approach in developing and living their vision and values with others. The internal benefits from an effective leadership brand include increased engagement, opportunities to advance in the organization and higher levels of credibility and trust. Externally, it can entice new talent, vendors and prospects, which positively impacts the whole organization. In this course, participants practice a three-phased approach to defining and living their brand. They learn to lean into the human side of leadership, craft their own brand statement and incorporate an Action Plan to refine their brand over time.

Suzie Bishop, VP of Product Development at CLS said, “We’re very excited to offer Your Leadership Brand—the first course of its kind for our organization. And Building Trust is such a cornerstone skill to so many other elements of leadership. Both programs are designed to give leaders just what they need to broaden their influence and optimize their results.”

Both courses are available in 2-hour in-person instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual instructor-led training (vILT) modalities. These highly learner-driven and application-based programs allow learners to take an active role in their development through peer discussion, relevant activities and customizable strategies that fit their personal context.

“Personal accountability and ownership have never been more important in the workplace. This wave of Situational Performance Ownership® translations demonstrates our commitment to equipping employees with the skills to play an active role in their success and engagement,” said Maureen Shriver, CEO at CLS.

A study by Microsoft revealed that 87% of employees feel highly productive, yet only 12% of managers agree that their employees are highly productive, representing a significant gap in performance expectations. The Situational Performance Ownership® course empowers the base of the organization to quickly align on expectations, allowing them to develop autonomy faster and contribute to organizational goals more quickly.

“All employees are a part of the leadership process and responsible for getting what they need from a leader to be successful. This course enables team members to do just that, and these translations extend the reach of the transformative impact of the Situational Leadership® approach,” said Suzie Bishop, Vice President of Product Development at CLS.
